Frame Loom Weaving
Fringing
Got my frame loom from The London Loom at my Japanese Weaving workshop and just could not wait to start learning.
Bought myself a book; there are quite a few books out there. The one I used as a reference is called "DIY Woven Art" by Rachel Denbow. I also looked up a couple of YouTube tutorials and began warping my loom. Surprisingly, I still got it wrong and only realised a couple of days later when I came to weave it! Sometimes the simplest of things can be quite daunting when you have never done them before!
After getting the warping right, I watched some basic videos on the basic weave. I particularly enjoyed videos by Creative Bug "Weaving for Beginners Part 1: Create the Loom with Annabel Wrigley | Creativebug"; very helpful and user friendly. I undid it and started again. It takes time but mistakes are a huge part of the learning process so patience and perseverance are good qualities to have and if not, to practice.
The weave for another loved "M"
I decided to make this weave for another loved one and so thought of her as I wove. Felt pleased with the result and cannot wait to give it to her.
